Water Fest, for 6th graders, is held annually in Pope County at the Pope County Fairgrounds.
At Water Fest, 6th graders learn about various topics related to water such as; conservation, water treatment, macro invertebrates, erosion, the water cycle, bubblelogy and more. The students learn by hand on interactive activities and games.
Conservation Day is also held annually, for 5th graders of Stevens & Pope Counties, at the Scandia Woods Environmental Learning Lab (SWELL) near Cyrus, Stevens County.
Conservation Day at SWELL is always a big hit, reaching over students from Stevens & Pope counties. It is a day of learning in an outdoor. Some of the topics that are covered are soils, wetlands, wildlife, waterfowl, mammals, orienteering, water quality, geocaching, raptors, reptiles, mirrors of Minnesota. The students learn about the topic through hands on activities, demonstrations and games.
